Struggling to choose your next travel destination? If you find yourself at a crossroads, uncertain about where to go next, I’ve put together a list to inspire you and help you make that decision. Traveling can be one of the most enriching experiences of our lives, and sometimes a little guidance can spark the perfect idea for your next adventure.

  1. Family and/or Friends: One of the most rewarding travel experiences can be reconnecting with family and friends you haven’t seen in a while. Whether they live just a short drive away in the next town or are in a far-off country, visiting loved ones can provide a unique opportunity to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories. Imagine sharing laughter over a home-cooked meal, reminiscing about old times, or discovering new places together in a familiar city. Each visit can be a chance to explore the local culture through their eyes, making your trip both personal and enriching.

  2. Movie or TV Filming Locations: A favorite travel option of mine is diving into the world of cinema by exploring iconic movie filming locations. As a passionate movie enthusiast, you may find immense joy in standing in the very spots where your favorite films were brought to life. You could drive through the Alps in an Aston Martin DB5 like James Bond, or eat at Empire Diner and check in at Men in Black HQ at the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in lower Manhattan and the World's Fair Observation Towers in Queens. The thrill of walking through these cinematic landscapes is unparalleled, as it allows you to feel a connection to the stories and characters that have entertained audiences around the world.

  3. Historical Sites: For those captivated by the tales of the past, planning a trip to historical sites can be an incredibly rewarding experience. The history of World War II draws travelers to the beaches of Normandy and to the Brandenburg Gates of Berlin each year. Others are drawn to the Pyramids of Giza, Stonehenge in the UK, Chichén Itzá in Mexico, or Machu Picchu in Peru. Visiting museums, memorials, and significant landmarks will not only enhance your understanding of bygone eras but also provide a poignant reminder of the lessons history has to offer us.

  4. Culinary Destinations: For those who appreciate the art of cooking or simply enjoy indulging in exquisite meals, traveling to culinary destinations can be a dream come true. Explore regions renowned for their gastronomic delights, such as Napa Valley and Bordeaux, celebrated for their exquisite vineyards and world-class wines. Alternatively, you could venture to Japan, where the sushi is a culinary masterpiece, or travel to countries in South America like Argentina or Chile, where you can savor traditional dishes like ceviche and empanadas. Each of these locations offers a unique culinary landscape that reflects the culture and heritage of the region, inviting you to embark on a flavorful journey.

  5. Architectural Wonders: Others may love well-designed buildings and travel far to see them. Frank Lloyd Wright has many buildings in his renowned portfolio throughout the US that you can visit. In Carmel-by-the-Sea, you can walk along Scenic Road and see the boat-shaped Clinton Walker House and tour Wright's workshops in Taliesin West in Arizona. Old and new cities alike offer the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and an egg-shaped building called The Gherkin in London. More ancient wonders include the Taj Mahal, Petra, and Angkor Wat.

  6. Shopping Trip: To feel like royalty, you could visit Harrods in London and shop where Queen Elizabeth did. Savile Row is also a short Tube ride away. Or, you could schedule trips around the Big Four Fashion Weeks in Milan, Paris, New York, and London. For simpler shopping, you could drive through the South Dakota Badlands and up to the town of Wall to Wall Drug. You can't miss the billboards on the highway telling you to go and you will love the selection of clothing, shoes, jewelry, souvenirs, and food.
